This is my 4th generation coffee mug and hopefully the last one for a long time. I’d been on an endless perfect coffee mug search for a few years. First one was contigo 16oz leakproof thermo. It was pricey at $25. I liked it for about a year but it didn’t have a handle. Also I like to put a lot of milk in my coffee, so milk solids got stuck in the very complex leakproof mechanism. It stunk really bad if I did’t breach it once every week. Second was Tal 17oz mug from Walmart. It has handy handle and price was right at $13 but it was too tall and didn’t fit under my instant solo coffee maker no matter how acrobatically I tilted it. Third was Sursip 24oz around the same price on Amazon, it was short enough to fit under the said coffee maker, but then it was too wide to fit inside my car cupholder. Do you know how annoying it is to have a coffee mug that doesn’t fit into a cupholder but is not leakproof? Also this one had a flimsy lid that broke in about 2 weeks. I almost gave up trying to find a mug that fits all my specifications. Not to mention buying so many reusable-but-not-biodegradable-mugs completely defeats the whole purpose of being able to reuse them… Don’t judge my ecological consciousness, because I finally found THE ONE!! Enter Ironflask 16oz mug, my absolute perfect mug. It’s not the cheapest but half the price of Hydroflask or Yeti. with its shiny pretty coating and a handle, there’s a built in coaster at the bottom. This prevents me from carelessly knocking it on something and denting the bottom, messing up the integrity of the vacuum seal. The bottom coaster ensures that your drink stays cold/hot for a long time. It is juuust short enough that it perfectly fits under my instant solo coffee maker. ( see picture) Unlike my 3rd mug, the ironflask lid is sturdy and well designed. It is a silicone lined screw-on lid that goes around about 1.5 times before it is finally sealed tight, where the opening stops right at where I want to sip from, exactly 90 degrees left from the handle, because I’m right handed. If you’re lefty, you’d have to learn to drink your coffee with your right hand, sorry. But anyway, the lid is simple enough I can get all the milk solids out with a dish sponge and it won’t stink later. I tried to check how “leakproof” it is by holding it upside down. It did drip a few drops of my coffee but I’m fine with that. I only need it sealed enough to commute to work. It really does keep your coffee hot or cold all the way to work then a few hours after. Oh but please note. It’s NOT dishwasher safe. Not to me, but it might be a deal breaker for some. I don’t even own a dishwasher so it works for me, but if you’re looking for dishwasher safe coffee mug, keep looking. Also I hope everyone knows but it’s also NOT microwave safe, dang! So over all not too many cons while pros adds up sky high with this mug. I’m contemplating about buying another one, so if I happen to lose it or something I will still have my perfect mug.
5.0 out of 5 stars If you're a "set & forget" type person when it comes to hot beverages, this is the mug for you!!Reviewed on January 06, 2022
I don't write alot of reviews, but I am pleased enough with this mug that I felt compelled to review it. Pros: This mug will keep your tea/coffee/whatever hot for hours. Literally. I drank about half of my tea (so naturally had the flip top open which of course will let heat escape), then went on a 2 hour hike, leaving my mug in the car in 40F weather. Came back and took a sip and it was still plenty warm! Not hot, but like I said, I'd already been taking sips for 1.5 hours, releasing heat, and it was only half full. If you drink your beverage in a more reasonable time, it will keep it consistently hot to the last drop. When the lid is screwed down and the flip top closed, it doesn't leak, even if tipped. I can't say if it would leak if left on its side or upside down, because who does that? Unlike other reviewers who say it doesn't fit in their car cupholders, I have no problem with it in my SUV. I don't even need to turn it to place the handle in the handle slot. The only cupholder it doesn't fit in is my older model Mini Cooper - but those cupholders are so tiny and weirdly placed that literally nothing fits in those - no fault of this mug. I use the mug every day, so I haven't washed it in the dishwasher, but the finish has held up fine with frequent hand washing. My old mug's (not Iron Flask) design started to come off immediately where you drank from it - yuck! Cons (sort of): While the finish is holding up perfectly on the top and body of the mug, it is starting to chip on the handle. However, I literally did not notice until I wrote this review. This is after 1.5 months of daily use. Not sure why it is chipping there as it doesn't get knocked around, but also not a deal breaker. I could see the screw top design being difficult for weak or arthritic hands, but so far it isn't too much of a hassle for me. If I'm having trouble, I just open the flip top and use that as leverage to open the screw top. Hopefully I don't break it off doing that. Although certainly not as convenient as the push down style of lid, you gain better heat retention and less spillage, so I don't really see the top design as a true con. The lid naturally goes on for right-handed sipping. I haven't tried to put it on for left-handed use because I'm usually driving and need it for my right hand anyway. So I don't know if it will go on the other way. Again, not really a con for me, but perhaps for some users. Not really a con, but a petty and trivial complaint - the color isn't as pretty as depicted. I got the maroon/iridescent color. Yes, the iridescent sheen is gorgeous - but only in bright, direct sunlight (not even indirect light coming through my window by my desk is enough to bring out the iridescent sheen). Since I primarily drink my beverage indoors, I am stuck with the blah maroon color 99% of the time. Again, this does not affect the performance of the mug in any way whatsoever, but it would be nice to have colors/designs that look nice all the time. So in conclusion, I don't really have any significant complaints about this mug. For my purposes, it works wonderfully. I would absolutely purchase this mug again.

Ok, so I have chronic fatigue. I love to drink hot tea, especially on bad fatigue days. When I am at work, I have a Yeti thermos that I regularly use. I love it! But it is so. Heavy. for me on bad days. I started a quest for a good travel mug that I could use at work that was lightweight but would keep things hot/cold for a while. I can across this. It is perfect. The handle is a good height and size and fits in my car’s cup holder. I can grab it lazily by the handle and the lid won’t leak! I can knock this about, carry it upside down even! And it won’t leak! My tea doesn’t stay as hot for as long as yeti, but for the nearby pound weight difference, it’s sooo worth it! Also, I LOVE the color options! Will be getting another!

I bought my cup a few months ago. I use it once ot twice a week for my coffee. Keeps my coffee hot throughout the morning from the first sip to the last. It has a nice tampered bottom to fit in my cars cup holder and in my hand. The handle makes it easy to carry. The large opening inthe top is perfect for sipping. The top is easy to clean with out having to take it apart. The cup is big enough to get your hand in to clean well yet small enough to use a bottle brush as well. Over all it is a very good cup, and stylish!
